Back to Issue 3

Most of us have been taught that looking forward is the most fruitful course of action. Whether you are a new college graduate looking for a first job or someone entering into (or coming out of) a relationship, the advice to move on, to focus on what’s ahead, is common and sometimes daunting. The wonderful poems and art in this issue perform the particular magic trick of considering how the past impacts our current realities and our futures. The interplay of past, present, and future in these pieces reminds us that we are never alone in our journeys, that experience can be both recursive and propulsive at the same time. Cyclical. Instructive.

We are grateful for the excellent work so many people have shared with us—thank you for helping us bring this little slice of joy into being. And we are always looking forward to what will come next. This issue finds us in the midst of summer, and although it is only July, autumn is coming. So take a moment to press pause and read Issue Three. Let yourself relish the liminal spaces this art provides. And then? Move forward into whatever the summer may hold for you. We hope that you will find beauty in these pieces as we did.
